About the event
We spend time planning to write, thinking about writing, sometimes avoiding writing, and hopefully actually writing. Let’s consider all aspects of the writerly life. What finally gets us going and what stops us? How do we sit still and face the page? What are your personal writing habits and superstitions? Are you secretive about your habits or do you share them? What brings joy to your process? We’ll consider the lives of famous writers while also sharing our own unique journeys through the creative process. An interactive discussion with frequent brief interludes for micro notes.
Elisabeth Tova Bailey is the author of essays, short stories, and the natural history memoir The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating (Algonquin Books, 2010). A late night writer, she works until she is stuck then goes to bed knowing that she will wake periodically with the solutions. Thanks to a flashlight (think Nancy Drew) and an astronaut pen, morning…
